For many of us, it’s been tough staying at home instead of visiting our favorite venues for an evening of jazz. But one jazzer is continuing the tradition of the jam session through weekly virtual Zoom concerts. Jocelyn Medina is a well-known vocalist and composer based in New York. For some time, she’s hosted the Sunday Vocal Jazz Jam Series at venues throughout the City. In March, she began hosting those sessions over Zoom conferences. The results speak for themselves. Jocelyn shares the story behind those sessions as well as some of her own early musical influences. For more information, search for the group “Sunday Vocal Jazz Jam Series” on Facebook.
